In consultation with the government, the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of Korea has set a target range of 2.5～3.5 percent for the average rate of increase in core inflation^* for the three year period 2004～2006.

    * The Consumer Price Index after stripping out non-cereal agricultural products and basic petroleum products.
