Exploring Ukraine through Money, From the Kyiv Rus to the Euromaidan

This year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and Ukraine (relations established February 10, 1992). Ukraine became an independent state in 1991 following the dissolution of the Soviet Union and established diplomatic relations with Korea in the following year. However, Ukraine remains a somewhat unfamiliar country to the Korean public since exchanges have been relatively difficult due to the geographical distance and cultural differences involved. Nevertheless, Korea and Ukraine share similarities in that they have maintained their identity and pride despite numerous foreign invasions. In celebration of this special year, the Bank of Korea Money Museum is proud to present this opportunity to encounter Ukraine through its money. The vast selection of commemorative coins introduced in this exhibition displays remarkable artistry and sheds light on diverse aspects of Ukraine. We hope that the exhibition will enhance understanding of Ukraine and promote further cooperation between our two countries.
