Since 1960, the Bank of Korea has published its annual Economic Statistics Yearbook containing Korea’s major
economic statistics. To help understand economic trends throughout recent years, the Bank has now published
its yearbook for 2021, showing statistics for each sector of the economy, including data on the five major national
accounts: the national income, the balance of payments, the flow of funds, the input-output tables, and
the national balance sheet. The yearbook also includes monetary and financial statistics, price indexes, and
a financial statement analysis, as well as international key statistics.
In this 2021 edition, the arrangement of statistical tables and constituent items has been reorganized
for greater legibility and understanding, and we have also introduced the Open Banking System statistics
that was officially launched in December 2019.
I sincerely hope that this publication will be used widely for various purposes, including the establishment
of economic policies and the analyses of economic activities. I would like to ask our readers not to hesitate in
giving us their candid feedback and advice on any content that requires further improvement.
